About PrediabetesBasket

PrediabetesBasket is an independent UK service designed to help people managing their blood sugar make more sense of the food they buy in supermarkets.

Rather than judging individual foods as simply “good” or “bad”, PrediabetesBasket helps people look at their shop as a whole and understand where small, realistic changes may be useful.

Why PrediabetesBasket exists

Supermarket shopping can start to feel confusing once you begin thinking more carefully about blood sugar. Food labels are hard to compare, advice can seem to contradict itself, and front-of-pack claims often say very little about how a product fits into your week.

Choosing between two similar products on the same shelf becomes a small decision you have to make again and again — with everyday items such as bread, cereals, yoghurt, drinks, snacks and ready meals often causing the most uncertainty.

PrediabetesBasket was created to make the weekly shop easier to understand, without demanding perfection and without treating any food as forbidden.

Our approach

Looking at the overall pattern of a shop can provide more context than judging one item in isolation.

Feedback is written to help you notice:

  • things already going well
  • areas that may be worth another look
  • practical alternatives you may wish to consider

The aim is always the same: clearer, calmer information about the shop you actually buy.

Educational guidance, not medical advice

PrediabetesBasket:

  • does not replace personalised medical or dietetic advice
  • does not prescribe treatment
  • does not provide a list of foods somebody is forbidden to eat
